Symbol of the pieces are given below -
When Pawn moves, only the destination square is given, symbol is not needed.
Play the opening by following opening principles given below:
(a)Capture the centre of the board by pawns: Capture the centre of the board by ‘e’ and ‘d’ pawns and sometimes by c and f pawns by moving them two squares ahead(or atleast one square ).
(b)Develop the minor pieces: Bishop and Knight are called the minor pieces. Bring your minor pieces towards the centre of the board as early as possible(preferably in one chance for each piece).
(c)Keep your king in safe custody: Castling is the best possible way to keep the king safe. So, castle in between developing your minor pieces or after developing all the minor pieces. You can castle either on King-side or on Queen-side but make your middle game planning accordingly.Pawn cover of the castled position should be maintained as long as possible.
(d)Develop the major pieces: Queen and Rook are called the major pieces. Finally, you have to bring your major pieces into the game to their best possible squares. Move the Queen to such a square from where its access should be through the centre of the board and none other opponent chessmen would be able to attack it. Don’t move the queen at an early stage of the game so that the opponent chessmen could come out to their best possible squares by attacking it. Place the two rooks towards the central files where they have good prospects.
While playing the opening moves we will not only try to put our own pieces to their best possible squares but also will try to restrict our opponent’s pieces from moving to their best possible squares.
